Thirteen Reasons Why
By: Jay Asher

This text is becoming easier and easier to read. As you make time to sit down and actually read, it makes you not want to really put the book down. It’s becoming a better book than what liar was. It has my interest more now than what Liar did. Jay Asher has some way of making the text to where you want to know what is going to happen next. In my eyes, I believe that he understands the real life of what teens go through and that is why he decides to go through and write a book about teen suicide.
I do believe he could have possibly written it in a different style. Maybe he could have put Hannah in the book before she died instead of using just the tapes. Even though those tapes are explaining everything, I still think that he could have and should have possibly changed the way he did it.
Over all though, Thirteen Reasons why is a good book so far and I for sure would keep recommending the book to a teenager because it’s actually something that could happen in real life to anyone. It could possibly help prevent the bad things that do and could happen in teenage years.

Thirteen Reasons Why.
By: Jay Asher
I get a funny feeling,
it comes from deep inside.
I get all mad and angry,
wanting to go and hide.
My doctor calls it depression,
my dad says it's just me.
But the thoughts and feelings,
no one will ever be able to see.
Some say I'm psycho,
some say I'm just weird.
It's like I'm a different person,
and the old me just disappeared.
I get really edgy,
I want to commit suicide real bad.
Then I get a headache,
followed by feeling sad.
I wish I could get help,
I wish it would go away.
Maybe if I keep praying real hard,
it will some day.

I feel that this poem will fit this book right, Hanna kills herself. She states that the tapes she recorded were for those who had part of her death.  This poem may have a little more than what really could be the situation but it goes well with it because she feels alone. She was more than likely depressed and not feeling the way she should have felt. The feeling of sad and sorrow left her to think that she could not be alive anymore.  She may have wanted to change what she had, or even change the way she was but that wouldn’t be the same. Although she may have thought her life was horrible, was it really that bad to where she needed to commit suiside over? There could have been many other solutions rather than death

13 Reasons Why
By: Jay Asher

I really think that this text of the book is simple. It’s very easy to read. It allows you to understand everything better when the text is simple. When you have harder text to read, I feel that it makes you not want to read as much as you should. I think that Jay Asher had written the book like that for a specific reason. I believe that since the book is leaning towards teenagers, it has a better and easier text so they are more interested in the reading.
I believe that one of the hardest understandings about the text is the tapes. What exactly are the tapes supposed to mean? It says that each person receiving the tape has a part of the death of the girl, but why did she decide to make the tapes? It may say why in the rest of the book but I’m just confused on why she had decided to do it the way she did.
As of right now, this book makes you think in a way. It makes you think about how the reality can kick in. You realize that what is going on in the book can happen to someone in high school or even college. You may realize how some people are treated or even how you yourself treat people and want to change the way that is. I believe that things happen for a reason and if you change the bad habits, you can better yourself as a person.
